Knowing fury like no other the colt truly was a nightmare. Handling him was near impossible and hazard really was a name he would suit but to those at the yard he was known as Perry. The dark bay colt was full ofpotential, his spirit on the track was fiery and true. Given the chance he could become a legend and that chance he would be given. That chance was drawing ever closer.
Perry had been raced as a prospect with some success but had yet to race his first career race. It was an exciting thing, to have purchased a colt with so much potential and they were certainly looking forward to his first race.It was scheduled for this to occur in early December when the next race suitable for the fiery colt was to run and, if things went well, it was hoped his maiden would be broken quickly in order to start his career on a positive note. In time, it was hoped that he would rise to grace the highest heights. but that was the future and while it posed as a long term goal there were many short term goals required to achieve it. Breaking his maiden was the first of these goals.
Alexia Harshing had been working closely with the colt since he had first rrived at the stable. Certainly, he had been allowed to choose his own jockey and while he did not necessarily like her he did not try to hurt her every time she approached him anymore, which was a start. Perhaps she was growing on him or, more likely, he was just biding his time while he planned her downfall. Alexia had to hope that it was, in fact, the prior. After all, they were starting to make progress and begining to move in the right direction.
As the pair walked down to the track there seemed to be an air of anticipation between them. The colt walked quickly, his ears perked and his movement energetic. His tail flicked as he strode confidently onwards, sure of himself in ways that few would ever know. Certainly, he knew he could excel at what would soon occur and that he would feel good as a result of him. Plus, he really enjoyed it also and, therefore, things could not be better for him.
As Alexia mounted she could feel the colt's readiness through the saddle. He tossed his head impatiently, pawed at the ground and shifted his weight until he was pushed forwards. As usual, there were no issues in gating him. The handsome colt walkedcalmly into the stall and waited for the gates infront of him to open. When they did his break was quick as he darted at great speed out of the gate and settled into a fast pace. It did not take long for the six furlong breezing to be over as the bay colt did exactly what he loved - ran, tearing up the track without limitation. It was like a dream to ride him and it was easy to tell that he was happy too. The wind pulled through him mane, the world sped by and it was another great workout as the colt's maiden race drew nearer still.
